Responding to an open New Moon casting call on Craigslist, hundreds of Twilight
super fans and struggling actors (not mutually exclusive categories) lined up in Vancouver yesterday.
The kids came from as far away as Florida to line up as early as 5 a.m. outside the Second Avenue Studios. Then, at 12:30 p.m., tragedy struck. Casting assistants told the crowd that they would not be allowing any more people into the building. Things got ugly. There were tears, tantrums, accusations of line cutting. It was like kindergarten with headshots and Twilight books.
The lucky few that made it in the studios and scored an audition appointment also got a few pages of the script. While names were blocked out, some pages reportedly portrayed a conversation between Bella and Embry at the bottom of page 327 in the book. Jason Allen, one of the lucky ones who scored an audition, said he hadn’t even read the whole series, just a bit of Twilight.
